I’ll never understand how the US govt gets to dangle the carrot in front of you (GI Bill, healthcare, TSP, steady income, housing, etc) and then when you join the military to get the carrot you get shamed for it.It's almost as if there's some sophisticated, high level military marketing layer that assesses how to draw in young people into a top-down, rigid, military machine, and then figures out how to remake soldier's psychology once they're 'in'.
