I used to work in a lab that had some cryogenic equipment (SQUID magnetometer). We used to have "Welding Grade" and Ultra High Purity (UHP) helium. You needed to use the UHP helium to force liquid helium into the magnetometer, otherwise you could get frozen nitrogen in the magnetometer. Never heard of "Balloon Grade" before, that's funny.Balloon grade is the low end of helium purity. Still very pure, but not on the scale of helium used for divers breathing mixes or helium used in MRI machines.

He's amazing! I remember watching his speeches as a kid, he was just calm and respectful.
