For a toy or random domestic widget to be made out of aluminium that isn't used on aircraft, it'd have to pick a more obscure, more expensive grade - which no designer is going to do unless they specifically need some property of that grade.So yeah, someone designing something out of aluminium that doesn't matter what grade it is is probably going to pick a grade that happens to be used on aircraft too. Then the marketing people turn up and stick "aircraft grade!" in front of it.

Ammonium nitrate is very stable on it's own. There are thousands of these warehouses scattered across the US. They're usually in farming communities and they store many tons in close proximity. While there have been a small number of accidents I would say that, compared to the volume that has been safely stored, it is relatively safe to store it this way.First story I read said ammonium nitrate. Typically used as a fertilizer, however that was also the explosive component of the OKC bombing in the 1990s.
